Ways in Which to Enhance Your Metal Detecting Experience
By J C Christian
The first requirement for anybody to become successful as a treasure hunter is that they choose a quality metal detector which best meet their needs and objectives. If you are going to do some treasure hunting you need to consider what kind of treasure you are going to look for and how often you will be going out doing it. It is also important that you consider just how much you want to spend (keep in mind that the cost of a metal detector can start from as little $100 and cost more than $1,000). Plus if you wish to become a successful treasure hunter then you need to determine how much you already know or are willing to learn about operating a metal detector. Once you have considered all these points you should now be able to invest in an instrument that is not only easy to use but will help you to achieve your goals.
You now have your metal detector assembled the next thing you should do is read the owner’s manual not only will it provide you with basic instructions on how to operate the detectors controls but will also provide you with advice on the detector’s special features to help you in maximizing your chances of finding treasure.
Now you are ready to go out and start your first treasure hunt, but it is important that you know as much as possible about the area where you intend to start hunting. The research you do can be as simple as asking someone where is the best places to hunt or as complex as investigating the history behind a particular location. There are many resources where you can get information from such as treasure hunting magazines, books, metal detecting clubs, local metal detector dealers as well as internet chat forums will provide you with information regarding the best places to search.
It is important that you learn proper search and recovery techniques. Searching in a straight line as opposed to a wide arc helps the search coil level and prevents it from lifting after each sweep has occurred. This ensures that the overlapping sweeps remain uniformed. Also use a screwdriver like probe in order to locate a pinpointed target as it helps prevent damage as well as making it easier for you to refill the holes.
Finally, practice makes perfect. This is probably the best treasure hunting tip of all. As the more you hunt then the better you will become and so the more treasure you will find.
Hopefully these hints provided above will help to enhance your metal detecting experience in the future.
